i haven't posted film in a while. i had quite a few rolls to sort through from trips to paris, belgium and cape town. however, i was focusing on my digital camera for a while.
having that distance is quite nice - most of the shots were taken 3 to 4 months ago. the paris ones 8 months ago! the perspective of looking at them now is pretty cool - i'm not quite as critical of them as i was before, and at the same time find it easier to assess whether or not the shot was successful or not!
it's heartening to still like shots that you'd liked upon your initial assessment months ago. and, even nicer when you discover little gems that you'd overlooked before - particularly the two shots of the couples i just uploaded today, no's 16 and 18. i was probably a bit too critical of them at first - they're by no means perfect, but i quite like what i've captured with them.
the one of my uncle i loved from the moment i saw it come out, partly because it's quite special having been able to take a decent photo of someone whom i'm so fond of.
and the girl at antwerp train station, well, i just loved that from the moment i saw her standing there! i wasn't having too much luck or inspiration in belgium (and after my trip i only came back with a few decent shots), but the moment i saw her standing in the entrance i knew this could be a lovely shot! i took another of her striking a different pose, which has some bodies in the background to balance it out, which i'll post later.
anyway, that's it for now. i'll be posting a few more film shots over the next few weeks. let me know what you think!
